Festival Update July 13th, 2011…
Posted on July 13, 2011
Only a few days to go in the festival season, and it has been exhausting and exhilarating all at the same time!
In late June, the TD Canada Trust Ottawa Jazz Festival started out hot ‘n heavy, …and wet!
Three nights, three incredible performances (Robert Plant, Elvis Costello and KD Lang), the weather was a little trying, but it only made the concerts that much more memorable; Robert Plant restructuring the Led Zepplin catalogue, Elvis Costello turning back the hands of time and delivering a blistering set, and the ever-incredible KD Lang doing her thing… It was hot, humid and a fantastic lineup of the world’s elite jazz performers, we can’t wait till next year..!
Early July saw the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest roll into town with a bang, delivering one of the greatest concerts of summer on the first night with Soundgarden, one of the original grunge bands from the Seatlle scene in the 90’s. One of their first concerts into the newly re-formed rockers tour, they were already in fine form.
It was a special treat for our video crew to arrange with the band to show the concert in B&W, a magnificent way to add an edgy element to a big-time rock show – hope you liked it!
The weather has been fantastic for the run, except for the one night that a mini-tornado ripped through the park, and the Black Keys were forced to wait it out until the safety concerns were relaxed – the people that stayed will remember this night for quite some time!
A few more days of music, then we put the big show to rest for a year. We hate to see it end, but we do need to sleep for a few days to re-energize!
We hope to see you all out at the park!
