Festival Update July 13th, 2011…
Posted on July 13, 2011
Only a few days to go in the festival season, and it has been exhausting and exhilarating all at the same time!
In late June, the TD Canada Trust Ottawa Jazz Festival started out hot ‘n heavy, …and wet!
Three nights, three incredible performances (Robert Plant, Elvis Costello and KD Lang), the weather was a little trying, but it only made the concerts that much more memorable; Robert Plant restructuring the Led Zepplin catalogue, Elvis Costello turning back the hands of time and delivering a blistering set, and the ever-incredible KD Lang doing her thing… It was hot, humid and a fantastic lineup of the world’s elite jazz performers, we can’t wait till next year..!
Early July saw the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest roll into town with a bang, delivering one of the greatest concerts of summer on the first night with Soundgarden, one of the original grunge bands from the Seatlle scene in the 90’s. One of their first concerts into the newly re-formed rockers tour, they were already in fine form.
It was a special treat for our video crew to arrange with the band to show the concert in B&W, a magnificent way to add an edgy element to a big-time rock show – hope you liked it!
The weather has been fantastic for the run, except for the one night that a mini-tornado ripped through the park, and the Black Keys were forced to wait it out until the safety concerns were relaxed – the people that stayed will remember this night for quite some time!
A few more days of music, then we put the big show to rest for a year. We hate to see it end, but we do need to sleep for a few days to re-energize!
We hope to see you all out at the park!
Festival season is almost upon us!

This is a wonderful time of year for us, the weather is great, weekends are filled with sports, music and family, and most importantly, the festival season (for Liverpool Court) is almost here!
First up is the TD Canada Trust Ottawa Jazz Festival, and this year, it has been generating some fantastic interest. Quite an impressive list of artists! Starting with Robert Plant, and not letting up for 12 days…
We are anticipating a three camera coverage of the main stage at Confederation park this year, with our team of video directors, producers, crew chiefs, camera people, cable pullers and runners all working in unison to bring a fantastic program of concerts to the visitors of this Jazz extravaganza!
This year, as an extra bonus, we will be covering the OLG late night stage with a camera and sending that image to the beer tent, so not only people in the staged tent can view, but those enjoying a cool beverage can also enjoy the show!
Next on the list is the festival that is rivaling any festival on earth, the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest.
This behemoth of a music festival is slated to run for two 6-day sessions again this year, and it is being kicked off with an incredible day where you’ll be able to see the Flaming Lips alongside Soundgarden from the two main stages.
The fun does not let up for the entire run of the festival, as there will be something for everyone.
Music, food, fun, sun and good vibes are had by all!
We are covering the 5 main stages at the park, and these include the MBNA, Claridge Homes, Subway, Hard Rock and National VBank (formerly the Blacksheep) stages. We’ll have over 50 people on site at any one time, with 7 big LED screens going full-time!
If you have any questions about our coverage of these famous events, feel free to ask any one of the Liverpool Court Crew, they are the ones wearing the Liverpool Court T-shirts!
…and keep an eye out for some interesting tweets and posts from the festival, we’ll let you know the coordinates of the feeds once we know ourselves!
See you this summer!
